Baltimore Technologies is an internet security firm founded in the late 1990s by Fran Rooney. It soared in value during the internet boom and became a FTSE 250 firm with a value in excess of a billion pounds sterling. However, lacking any real profits and the Stockmarket Crash of March 2000, its value plummeted from £5.5bn to less than its net cash figure of about £30m.
It emerged in December 2004, that the company is to be taken private in February 2005.
BaltimoreTechnologies is an internet security firm founded in 1976 by Michael Purser.
In February 2005 Acquisitor delisted Baltimore from the FTSE.
Baltimore, originally a marketing subsidiary of CHACO and System Dynamics, was founded in 1984 following discussions in a pub in Baltimore, County Cork, where two of the three founding principals were on holiday at the time.
