Encyclopedia > Bambu

Bambu is an old brand of rolling paper, which originated in Alcoy Spain, 1764. It is obviously ver old but it is not quite as old as the Pay-Pay brand which originated in 1740, or some of the older French brands. Bambu papers were originally produced at a small factory in Alcoy, however in the 1980's that factory was closed and sold off, and Bambu outsourced 100% of their production to Miguel Y Costas, the manufacturer of Smoking-brand papers. Most Bambu papers are produced by Miguel Y Costas at their Argentina factory. This has broken tradition of Bambu being a Spanish brand. Hence, Bambu does not actually produce any of their own papers. Bambu states that all of their papers are naturally gummed from the glue of the african acacia tree, free of any chemical substance additives. Currently most rolling paper companies also use natural gum except for a few in India and some papers made in France may still contain "pork-fat" glue. Both the hemp and non-hemp papers come in a standard size as well as "Big Bambu", a substantially longer and wider paper. Bambu has other sizes, most notably its Double-Wide size. Bambu's image and style will forever be an iconic element of pop culture. Most famously, Bambu was the stylistic inspiration for Cheech and Chong's movie Up In Smoke. Bambu, along with a few other brands is one of the the last privately held major rolling paper brands. Image File history File links Bambublack. ... Image File history File links Bambublack. ...
