Banagher (Beannchar in Irish) is a town in the Republic of Ireland, located on the western edge of County Offaly in the midlands of Ireland. The name comes from an Irish word meaning "horn-cast", the same root as Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland. Banagher was originally built to guard a crossing point on the nearby River Shannon.
