Its neighbor, clockwise from north, are Amphoe Bang Kruai of Nonthaburi Province, Bang Sue, Dusit, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok Noi, and Taling Chan districts of Bangkok. Bang Phlat was once a Kwaeng of Bangkok Noi. Then the Bang Phlat district was setup in 1989 taking 4 sub-districts from Bangkok Noi.
