Barachois Brook Park is a large and popular Provincial Park in the southwest of the island of Newfoundland.
There is a hiking path to the top of Erin Mountain, a peak in the Long Range Mountains which run along the west coast of Newfoundland. The trail takes about 2 hours to traverse.
All 3500 hectares of the park are in the Western Newfoundland Forest eco region which is characterized by a balsam fir forest with an underscore of ferns and moss.
Barachois Pond became a park in 1962 to ensure the preservation of the area for nature appreciation and recreational use.
Barachois Pond itself is nine kilometers long and divided into three sections: first by a sand spit three kilometers down from Little BarachoisBrook, and again by the peninsula where the first group of campsites are located.
