Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOC "Tre Vescovi" 2003 Vinchio e Vaglio

Barbera d'Asti is a red wine variety. It gives good yields and can impart deep colour, low tannins and (unusually for a warm-climate red grape) high levels of acid. The grape is grown in the district of Asti and Montferrat. It is a DOC wine, Barbera d'Asti is the most renowned beetween the Barbera based wines and it is found in two main variants: Barbera d'Asti Superiore which must undergo a refinement in big oak barrels or small barrique french oak barrels for at least six months, and plain Barbera d'Asti which doesn't need refinement in oak barrels. The wine has a strong aging potential, the "Superiore" kind is aged from three to eight years.
