Barenaked for the Holidays is a holiday album released by Canadian band Barenaked Ladies, released in 2004. (see 2004 in music). The album includes Christmas and Hanukkah songs as well as "Auld Lang Syne", which is traditionally sung on New Year's Eve. It was recorded at Steven Page's farmhouse/studio near Toronto, Fresh Baked Woods and released independently by BNL's Desperation Records label (and distributed by Warner Music). While the album contains some faithful interpretations of traditional songs (the God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings medley with Sarah McLachlan, for example), most of the album plays true to Ladies' off-kilter spirit. Jingle Bells begins as a slow, faithful rendition before breaking into an up-tempo version of the "Batman smells..." variation. The inclusion of Do They Know It's Christmas?, the Band Aid charity song, among the traditional carols is a further instance of the Ladies' trademark tongue-in-cheek style.
