The London Borough of Barnet is a London borough in North London and forms part of Outer London.
To the north of the borough is Barnet, also known as Chipping Barnet, High Barnet and Barnet Town, which is a middle class suburban development.
The borough was formed in 1965 from the Municipal Borough of Finchley, Municipal Borough of Hendon and the Friern Barnet Urban District of Middlesex and East Barnet Urban District and Barnet Urban District of Hertfordshire.
The London Borough of Camden is an inner-London borough created in 1965 to replace the metropolitan boroughs of Hampstead, Holborn, St Pancras.
Neighbouring areas are the City of Westminster and the City of London to the south, Brent to the west, Barnet and Haringey to the north and Islington to the east.
