Athletic success

Barnstable High School sports teams are known as the Red Raiders, a name they share with, most notably, Texas Tech University. Red Raider teams have fared very well in recent years, the most successful being the girls' tennis program. In the 2006 spring tennis season, the entire team went undefeated in the regular season and team captain Lauren Donnelly (her 2nd consecutive championship) and her partner Kourtney Kelly won the South Sectional doubles championship, also earning recognition as Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team winners. Under Donnelly's leadership, the Red Raiders are currently in the hunt for the team South Sectional championship. Texas Tech University redirects here. ... The Barnstable High School Girls Volleyball team has won 9 State Championships in the past 13 years, including the past 3 State Championships. The team is currently on a 105 match win streak. They also hold the state Volleyball record for the most consecutive wins. Recent graduates include four Boston Globe and Boston Herald All Scholastics Genny Moore, Katelyn Morin, Liz Auger and Carly Newton, who was also named Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year and Prepvolley.com All American. Barnstable High School is well known for their fine arts programs, including the Red Raider Marching Band, in addition to the choral, orchestral and dramatic departments. In the late 1990s, the school received a major renovation and expansion. This project included the construction of the Performing Arts Center, which in addition to providing ample space for the school's active organizations, also serves as the home stage for the locally renowned Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra. Technology

Starting with the 2007-08 school year, all staff members at Barnstable High School were given new laptop computers running Windows XP Professional. A number of class rooms now have SMARTBoards. The high school also offers a 'Introduction to Information Technology' that gives credit for select colleges in Massachusetts. The school also uses the "Moodle online course system[1]. In August 2006, it was announced that the Barnstable High School Class of 2009 had created its own website, Barnstable2009.com [2]. Right now the site is in operate able. The Imani Club of Barnstable High School is focused on the interest of minority students attending the school.
It is sponsored jointly by high schools and The Junior Statesmen Foundation as an extracurricular social studies activity on high school campuses.
