Richard Boyle Cork - LoveToKnow 1911 (1261 words)
In 1590 he obtained the appointment of deputy escheator to John Crofton, the escheator-general, and in 1595 he married Joan, daughter and co-heiress of William Appsley of Limerick, who died in 1599, having brought him an estate of £500 a year.
Meanwhile he had been the object of the attacks of Sir Henry Wallop and others, incited, according to his own account, by envy at his success and increasing prosperity, and was apprehended on various charges of fraud in his office, being more than once thrown into prison.
On the 6th of September 1616 he was raised to the peerage as Lord Boyle, baron of Youghal, and on the 26th of October 1620 was created earl of Cork and Viscount Dungarvan.

Crofton Parkway is the scene of yearly parades, two of its three elementary schools, the Town Hall, Village Green, community events, Crofton Country Club, and walkers, joggers and bikers around the loop.
Crofton originally consisted of the area in the Crofton triangle, the area bounded by routes 3 in the West, 424 (Davidsonville Road) in the North, and 450 (Defense Highway) in the South.
Crofton was in the national news in late June and early July 2002 after a northern snakehead was discovered in a pond behind a post office,(not the local landmark Lake Louise, but instead across Route 3 from it).
