The title of Viscount Galway has been created three times in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created first in 1687, but became extinct in 1691. It was created again in 1692, becoming extinct in 1720. The most recent creation was in 1727. The present Viscount bears the subsidiary title of Baron Killard (1727), also in the Peerage of Ireland. The Peerage of Ireland is the term used for those peers created by British monarchs in their capacity as Lord or King of Ireland. ... Baron Alington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (250 words)
On 5 December 1682 his second son, the 3rd Baron, was created Baron Alington, of Wymondley, in the County of Hertfordshire, in the Peerage of England.
The English Barony became extinct on the death of his young son Giles, the 4th and 2nd Baron respectively, in 1691, while the Irish Barony was inherited by Giles' uncle, the 5th Baron.
The title was revived on 15 January 1876 when the horse racing profile and Dorset MP Henry Sturt was made Baron Alington, of Crichel in the County of Dorset, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
