William Francis Cowper-Temple, 1st BaronMountTemple (December 13, 1811)–(October 16, 1888), known as William Francis Cowper before 1869, was a British Liberal politician and statesman.
Two years later he was returned to Parliament for South Hampshire, and held this seat until his ennoblement in 1880 as BaronMountTemple, of MountTemple in the County of Sligo.
Lord MountTemple died aged 76 at his home of Broadlands, Hampshire, and was buried at nearby Romsey.
The titles of Viscount Palmerston and BaronTemple of MountTemple were created in the Peerage of Ireland 12 March1723 for Henry Temple, of East Sheen, eldest son of Sir John Temple, sometime Attorney General for Ireland.
