The Barrett M95 (also known as the 95M) is a rifle by the Barrett Firearms Company. It is an improved version of the Barrett M90. The main difference between it and the Barrett M82 is its bullpup configuration, which allows for a shorter overall length while preserving the entire length of the barrel. There is therefore no reduction in the bullet's ballistic performance. It features a pistol grip and the trigger unit moved forward 1 inch (25 mm) for better clearance between the magazine and the pistol grip, and thus more comfortable handling and shooting. The bolt handle is slightly redesigned and bent down and to the rear. The barrel chamber is chrome plated for better extraction and corrosion resistance. There are also some minor improvements in the trigger / firing pin mechanism. This weapon fires .50 BMG ammunition from a five-round, bullpup magazine. Like the Barrett M82, it is used as an anti-materiel rifle and a long-range sniper rifle. The M95 is not the most accurate sniper rifle, nor is it the most damaging.
Accuracy-wise, it is functionally the same as the SVD/Type 88, though the “bullet drop” factor at longer ranges may give the M95 an edge with longer shots.
The M95 is a solid choice for MEC/PLA snipers as an unlock, as it gives them more damage per shot than the standard sniper rifle, and can be a good choice for the USMC player as well, if the need for shooting aircraft crew is important.
