His historical research consisted of interviewing various Canadians from all over the country about their memories of their lives during specific historical periods such as the Great Depression and World War II.
BarryBroadfoot, a journalist who turned to writing oral histories that documented many facets of Canadian life, has died.
Broadfoot donated his papers to the University of Manitoba, but he "seldom retained the original tape recordings or the names of those he interviewed and later quoted in his books," the university website said.
Broadfoot suffered a stroke in 1998, which blinded him and impaired his memory.
