For several reasons, the emergence of "The Simpsons" on the DVD format is a big deal to lots of fans.
Simpsons on DVD remains an elusive dream for fans, and the Simpsons laser disc box set has long been dead.
According to a summer 1997 (Issue No. 32) of SimpsonsComics from Bongo, a "special edition" laser box set would feature the entire first season of the show, along with "ancillary materials." That reported include commentary on the secondary audio track by "Simpsons" supervising director/animator David Silverman, series creator Matt Groening and others.
