At the 1992 Winter Olympics he won a gold medal on the Men's 10000 Meters. Before the 1994 Winter Olympics he was so dissatisfied with the way to qualify for the tournaments that he became a Belgian. In Belgium there was (and still is) no speedskating tradition. Therefore, qualifying for the tournaments became no issue, as there were no other speedskaters to compete with. In Lillehammer (1994 Winter Olympics) Bart Veldkamp received a bronze medal in the Men's 10000 Meters for the Netherlands. Bart Veldkamp (Den Haag, 22 november 1967) is een sinds 1996 voor Belgiƫ uitkomende schaatser.
Veldkamp debuteerde in 1989 bij het Europees kampioenschap schaatsen, nadat hij in 1988 in Canada de eerste wereldkampioen marathonschaatsen was geworden.
Bij de Olympische Spelen van 1998 in Nagano was Veldkamp de eerste schaatsenrijder die op de vijf kilometer sneller reed dan 6:30 minuut, maar hij werd in diezelfde wedstrijd later nog gepasseerd door de Nederlanders Gianni Romme en Rintje Ritsma.

Bart Veldkamp (born 22 November 1967 in The Hague, the Netherlands) is a Belgian (originally Dutch) speed skater.
In 1990, Bart Veldkamp won the European Allround Championships and came very close to repeating that feat 11 years later in 2001, finishing 2nd.
In Lillehammer at the 1994 Winter Olympics, Veldkamp won a bronze medal on the 10,000 m for the Netherlands.
