Kuru has a diverse family background: he was born in the Czech Republic to a Czech father and a Polish mother and the family then moved to Austria. Kuru gained Austrian citizenship in 2003 and thus qualifies to represent three different nations. He has appeared for the Austrian under-21 team but is able to change his footballing nationality up until his 21st birthday or the point he receives a full international cap. Kuru made his FK Austria debut at the tender age of 16 in 2002-03. He has primarily been a reserve to Szabolcs Sáfár since then, although he did spend part of the 2004-05 season on loan to LASK Linz.
