Bartonella is a genus of bacterium. It includes the pathogens B. henselae, which causes cat scratch fever, and B. quintana, which causes trench fever. Rochalimaea is an older synonym.

Bartonella infection causes overt clinical disease in naturally infected cats, in spite of a high prevalence of bacteremia and seropositivity in areas of the United States with warm temperatures and high humidity.
