Basaveshwaranagar, a suburb of Bangalore, is an old extension that has turned into a bustling hub with more than 200,000 people living and working here. It is named after a poet-king Basaveshwara. Basaveshwaranagar itself has spawned several sub-localities like Kamalanagar, Housing Board Colony, Kamakshipalya, Kurubarahalli, etc.


There are several landmarks such as Pavithra Paradise, 8th Main, Water Tank Road and Shankar Mutt all of which are in one long stretch of about 2 km.


Though essentially a residential area, there are several commercial establishments and this makes Basaveshwaranagar a self-contained township. It is well served by buses and is about 5 km from the City bus stand and Bangalore City Railway Station. The famous Dr.M.C.Modi Charitable Eye Hospital is located here with many more hospitals like Panecea, Pristine, etc. Pizza Hut is located near Shankar Mutt circle. Also Shaadi Point a matrimonial center is present near ICICI ATM.
