However, when the new municipal administration tried to take control over the local media which it is entitled to by law, it has been avoided by a hair’s breath that "the Serbian Detroit" becomes the sight of the bloody clash of the citizens with the police.
By the last (and in all likelihood, illegal) decision of the previous municipal management, the media were attached to the Radio and Television of Serbia between the second and the third election round.
The municipality did appeal and won in the court, and the minister of culture, who is at the same time the president of the Board of Executives of the Television, Nada Popovic-Perisic, promised in the name of that body that they will not appeal.
