The Battle of Fariskur was fought on April 6, 1250 between the French Crusaders led by Louis IX and an Egyptian army.
The Egyptians were victorious, and Louis IX was captured along with his army and ransomed in exchange for the surrender of Damietta captured earlied in 1248 - the only real achievement of the Crusade.
This is the final battle in the Seventh Crusade.
