The battle of fort Ligoneir was fought in 1758 and was a battle of the French-Indian war. After failing to captured Fort Dusquense the british attacked Fort Ligoneir. After a 4 day long assault the fort was taken. The british now controlled a position which thretened Fort Dusquense.

The British regiments present at the battle were: the Royal Scots Greys (2nd), 4th, 6th, 7th and the Duke of Cumberland’s dragoons; 1st and 3rd Foot Guards, Howard’s Old Buffs (3rd), Barrel’s (4th), 13th, Howard’s (19th), Campbell’s Royal Scots Fusiliers (21st), Royal Welch Fusiliers (23rd), Sempill’s (25th), 32nd, 33rd, 36th, 37th and Conway’s (48th) Foot.
Ligonier urged that they should be fortified and held by the infantry while Cumberland directed that the line of foot should be positioned behind them in open country.
It is said that Cumberland was bitterly jealous of Ligonier’s courage and decisiveness in the battle.
