The Battle of Odessa was part of the Soviet-German War in 1941. It was mainly conducted by Romanian forces which were allied to the Germans. Due to the heavy resistance of the Red Army forces in Odessa, it took the Romanian army four attempts to take the city, and it suffered heavy losses. The Red Army forces were finally evacuated in September 1941.
