The Battle of Okpo was a battle of the first phase of the Seven Year War between Japan and Chosun (Korea). Arriving at Okpo Bay, the Korean Navy waited until all of the Japanese Navy was aboard their ships and began firing cannons. The commander Yi Soon-Shin instructed his ships to form a single line formation and fire at the enemy,hoping to use longer cannon range to defeat the Japanese. The Korean navy's cannnons caused so much destruction and havoc among the enemy ships, it is said that the Japanese did not have a chance to strike back.
