A Siege by Korean and Chinese Forces against the Japanese fortification of Sacheon. 1593-1598 Sacheon is a natural harbor located on the southern coast of Jeonra province in Korea. Following the retreat of the Japanese from Seoulin 1593, Forces under Konishi began fortifying the harbor, creating an impressive Japanese style castle on the site of a unmaintained Korean fort, dating back to Unified Sinla period. The main keep of the Castle was built directly on top of the old Sinla fort. By 1598, the catle contained an inner wall around the keep, surrounded by a natural moat which filled with sea water during high tide only, allowing ships to enter the moat. The outer wall encompassed a much larger area with additional guntowers and several fortified gates. 1598 As Koreans and their Ming Chinese allies began pushing south in 1598, Japanese forces (Sorry, i am writing from Iraq, between combat missions. Will get back after this patrol) Koreans and their Chinese allies were unable to take the city after a long siege. Japanese successfully evacuated the fortress during the last weeks of the War. Koreans take the castle only after the evacution. The castle and a giant mass tomb of dead Korean and Chinese Soldiers are still there for all to see.
