The Battle of Utica was fought between Carthaginian forces led by Hamilcar Barca, and a group of rebellious mercenaries. The mercenaries had rebelled because the Carthaginian government had withheld their compensation. The father of the famous Hannibal used superior tactics, however, and crushed the mercenary uprising.
