Battle of the Bands is a generic term for a contest in which many bands, usually rock/guitar bands but often from a range of different styles, compete for the title of "best band". The winner is determined by a panel of judges, the general response of the audience, or a combination. The winning band usually receives a prize in addition to bragging rights. Prizes usually include cash, free recording time in a local recording studio, a piece of new equipment, or a gift certificate. Songs from those twenty bands will be made available at www.sprintbattleofbands.com, and the public will then vote for their favorite (one vote only per email address) during the month of June.
Bands must send a media kit with a CD including at least four (4) original songs in Spanish, a photo of the band (color or fl and white), biography and complete contact information (emails, phones, websites, and addresses).
The first Sprint Battle of the Bands round will be on June 29th at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood with a performance by Lucybell of Chile.
The Battle of The Bands, is a progressive contest, other Teen Corporations in Minnesota will be holding similar contests where the winners will play at their county fair, and those winners will continue on to the Minnesota State Fair.
This yearÃs Battle of the Bands contestants are six Lakeville-based bands.
