Batu Ferringhi was hit by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Fortunately, no lives were lost due to warnings given by lifeguards on duty before the tsunami arrived. From east to west (that is, moving further 'out' from George Town and the airport), the main beaches are Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferringhi proper, and Teluk Bahang.
The hotel is to the west of Batu Ferringhi, the sole hotel on one of Penang's nicest beaches.

Driving to Batu Ferringhi and Telok Bahang used to be a lot of fun what with the beautiful scenery, the sing-alongs, the picnics with home cooked Nasi Lemak, and a dip in the beautiful ocean.
Batu Feringhi was paradise, and I was so disapointed to see all the developement when I returned...and they say thats progress, what a shame.
