Bear is cool and collected, and usually prefers to relax in The World. At the beginning of the series it is shown that he likes to help out newbies in the game, and it is this what draws him to Tsukasa in the first place. He usually hangs out with either Mimiru or BT, and has met with the latter in real life. She seems to know him very well. Tsukasa ) is a fictional character from the . ... Mimiru. ... As the voice of reason he is willing to believe that Tsukasa may not be able to log out, and starts to investigate about him, inside as well as outside the game. Eventually he learns from Subaru that Tsukasa has been online for the last 10 days; he is also the one to discover that Tsukasa in real life is in fact an hospitalized girl, who has fallen in a coma while playing The World. He keeps involving himself with Tsukasa as he realizes the Wavemaster's current situation is pretty dangerous, but BT tells him not to involve with Tsukasa's life unless he is willing to take full responsibility. So he decides to go to the very end, not only for Tsukasa but also for himself, in the quest of a way to help Tsukasa to log out. At the end of the series he offers Tsukasa the choice of being his legal guardian once he logs out.

In .hack//Outbreak Bear meets with Kite and Elk. He is mistaken for Orca by Kite, but Bear politely corrects him.
