In 1986 they released At The Zula Pool, under the San Francisco-based indie label Industrial Records. It was re-released with 5 tracks removed and 4 tracks added after the band was signed by Atlantic Records in 1988. It was some time at this point Roger Manning joined the band. By the end of 1989, Beatnik Beatch had disbanded and Sturmer and Manning went on to form the nucleus of Jellyfish. Atlantic Records (Atlantic Recording Corporation) is a record label founded in 1947 by Ahmet Ertegun and Herb Abramson. ...

For now I'll just tell you that Andy Sturmer and Roger Manning were in that band and they weren't happy, though they were signed to a major record label, Atlantic.
Roger and Andy were already recording demos of songs they were writing when Beatnik finally kicked the bucket.
