Beausejour Stadium is a cricket stadium located near Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. It was completed in 2002 and currently accommodates 12,000 spectators. It hosted the first day-night cricket match to be held in the West Indies between West Indies A and England A on 10 March 2006 and the first One Day International day-night cricket match in the West Indies between Zimbabwe and the West Indies on May 10th, 2006. The state-of-the-art Beausejour Stadium, opened in 2002 and enhanced with the recent installation of floodlights, will still undergo some degree of transformation for the big event.
The major permanent addition to Beausejour is the construction of a venue operations centre (VOC) – the hub for security arrangements – and an indoor practice facility, but almost everything else will be of a temporary nature.
The VOC should be in operation this year when Beausejour stages the region's first day/night international under lights on May 10, and the following month for the Test match against India when the type of security regulations for the World Cup will be rolled out as a dry run.
St. Lucia National Cricket Stadium - Beau-se-jour Cricket Ground (949 words)
Situated on the outskirts of the tourist resort area of Rodney Bay on the island's north-east coast, the ground is set in the rolling hills of Beau-se-jour and it passed every test that had been set for the hosting of an international cricket match.
Constructed on 22 acres of land, the stadium has a seating capacity of 15,000 and is highlighted by all the modern conveniences.
On Wednesday, 25 April the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet will stage semi-final 2, pitting the first and fourth place finishers from the Super 8’s against each other.
