Becky Kellar was initially a ringette player because there was no hockey available to her in her hometown.
She started playing hockey at age 12 and continued until she received a scholarship at Brown University in the U.S. She played for the Bears from 1993 to 1997 (she was team MVP in 1996) and has developed into one of the stingiest defensive defencemen in women's hockey.
Kellar was a member of the 1998 Olympic team and helped Canada to world titles the following three years.
