Begur is a village in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is in the state capital Bangalore. It is off Bangalore-Hosur highway. It is said to have been a prominent place during the rule of the Chola Kingdom. A historical tank and a beautiful old temple(Naganatheshwara temple) dating back almost 1200 years can be seen there along with a broken old fortress which is the home of another temple. The temples are between 1 and 2 km apart. The main idol is that of lord Shiva. On the eve of Shivaratri devotees perform pujas and stay awake the whole night. There are 5 major roads that connect Begur to rest of Bangalore.

  • The Begur - Jigani road is supposed to be a 80 feet road. Currently it's a 30 ft road and with hardly any asphalt while nearing Begur. After the new admisnistration this might face lift Begur significantly.
  • Begur to Hosur road via AECS (HAL) layout.
  • Begur to Bannerghatta road via Hulimavu.
  • Begur to Bommanahalli via Hongasandra.
  • Begur to Electronic City via Bettadasanapura.

Its strategically located equidistant from Electronic City & M G Road. This area is expected to develop drastically once BMIC road is open for all.
