In addition to the main marathon, there is a 10km run, a mini-marathon and a half marathon.


History

The Beijing International Marathon has been organized by the Chinese Athletics Association annually since 1981. In 1986 Kodana Taisuke of Japan set the course record in a time of 2:07:35.


In 1988 this time was equaled by Abebe Mekonnen of Ethiopia. In 2003, Sun Yingjie of China set the current women's record of 2:19:38. Abebe Mekonnen (born 1964) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. ...
