Being Bobby Brown is a reality series that depicts the lives of singers Bobby Brown and mega-star wife Whitney Houston, and their family. The series debuted on the Bravo channel on June 30, 2005, became very highly rated, and restored a level of celebrity to Bobby Brown. The network initially refused to air the program with Brown as the sole star and only greenlighted it when Houston agreed to be included in the regular cast. Ratings were so high, undoubtedly due to the presence of Houston, that she received nearly as much screen time as the show's title character. The program showcased the lives of the couple, including their shopping at the famed Harrod's of London (where they met with owner Mohamed Al-Fayed), vacationing in the Bahamas, and hunting. Houston popularized the phrase "Hell to the no" on the show and was nominated for a VH-1 Big In '05 Award for "Quote of the Year". The phrase also appeared on T-shirts. The Soup also featured Houston loudly shouting "Kiss my ass!" as a running gag, naming it its "Clip of the Year". The show aired on Thursday evenings.
