Belcanto (Belcanto, belcanto) (Italian, beautiful singing), an Italian musical term, refers to the art and science of vocal technique which originated in Italy during the late sixteenth century and reached its pinnacle in the early part of the nineteenth century during the BelCanto opera era.
Belcanto singing is characterized by a focus on perfect evenness throughout the voice, skillful legato, a light upper register, tremendous agility and flexibility, and a certain lyric, "sweet" timbre.
While the belcanto period is typically dated to the early 19th century, the term itself did not come to be commonly used in its current sense until the middle of the 19th century.
BelCanto's history is filled with success, but is also suitable as cold water to freeze the veins of Norwegians with a popstar-dream in their belly.
As the voice of BelCanto, she weaves melodies of crystalline beauty into a musical tapestry composed of exhilerating techno-dance textures as well as mystical ballads, delicately shimmering and warmly comforting.
Anneli was invited to join BelCanto as a young teenager, earning the respect of keyboardist Nils Johansen first with her amazing voice, and later with her lyrical and musical contributions.
