Belikin is the leading domestically produced beer in Belize.
Belikin is brewed by the Belize Brewing Company, Ltd. which is owned by the Bowen family. The Belikin beer brand name was first marketed (according to differing sources) in the late 1960s or in 1971.
The name "Belikin" is from the Maya language meaning "Road to the East". This is a term which some have suggested is the origin of the name of "Belize" (although the most accepted derivation says the name comes from the Belize River, meaning "muddy"). The Belikin label features a drawing of a Pre-ColumbianMaya temple-pyramid at Altun Ha.
The most common Belikin is a light lager beer. Belikin also makes a stout beer.
BelikinLager tastes pretty much like most tropical beers: slightly sweet with very low hops flavor and a clean finish, making it a refreshing beer you can drink a lot of in the tropical heat.
BelikinLager’s alcohol content is a little lower in than most US domestic lagers at 4.8% alcohol by volume.
BelikinLager and Stout come in the same bottle, the only difference is the bottle cap; green caps for lager and blue caps for stout.
