Encyclopedia > Belle Isle (Newfoundland and Labrador)

An island, 52 square kilometres in area, 16 km long and 5 km wide, located at 52º01'N latitude 55º17'W longitude. Officially uninhabited, there is some seasonal occupation during fishing season. The Strait of Belle Isle is named after it.
