Beltway bandit is a term for private companies located in or near Washington, D.C. whose major business is to provide consulting services to the US government. The phrase was originally a mild insult, implying that the companies preyed like bandits on the largesse of the federal government, but it has lost much of its pejorative nature and is now often used as a neutral, descriptive term. The BeltwayBandits occasionally offer Flyball training classes for novice dogs and handlers. The objective of the BeltwayBandits Flyball training curriculum is for dogs and their owners to have fun while learning to play Flyball on an individual basis.
In this way, the team members are able to assist in the training curriculum and the novice handlers are able to learn the application of the techniques being taught in class.
The ultimate goal of the BeltwayBandits Flyball training program is to develop dogs and handlers that are able to compete reliably and to the best of their ability as part of a cohesive Flyball team.
