Bemmel is a village in Gelderland in the municipality of Lingewaard. It was previously a municipality of its own, but in 2001 it merged with Huissen and Gendt to form the new municipality Bemmel, which was later renamed Lingewaard. Bemmel lies in between the two major cities of Gelderland, Arnhem and Nijmegen. Thus, in between the River Rhine and theRiver Waal. Nijmegen and Arnhem are both expanding in a fast tempo. Since bemmel lies in between, in the near future, Bemmel will become part of the suburbs of Nijmegen and Arnhem.
