History The rise and fall of the Japan Team Benimaru has always been a vastly arrogant young man, bearing inhumanly good looks as well as strength; he was envied and revered by many. Always the introspective type, Benimaru set out to prove himself to the few people who doubted him. This was around the same time when he met two men: Kyo Kusanagi and Goro Daimon. Kyo was a man who specialized at Chinese Boxing and wielded near omnipotent powers; and like Benimaru, he was arrogant to the core. Goro was a barrel-chested man who excelled at Judo, and had a father like disposition to both Benimaru and Kyo. These three men would go on to form the Japan Team, a group rivaled by few and feared by many. Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano at Madison Square Garden, 1951 Julio Cesar Chavez and Ivan Robinson at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, 2005 Amir Khan of Britain and Mario Cesar Kindelan Mesa of Cuba at the Athens Olympics, 2004 Boxing, nicknamed the sweet science and also called pugilism or prizefighting...

Of course, nothing is perfect. Benimaru and Kyo clashed constantly, often hurling insults over the most trivial of arguments. The whole of Japan was not large enough to cradle their enormous egos. Goro, acting like a surrogate father, would usually berate the two and keep them in line. Unfortunately, the team would disintegrate within four years. The King of Fighters tournament held in 1995 saw the introduction of Iori Yagami, a tenebrous and unstable man who wished for nothing more than the death of Kyo. With Kyo constantly distracted by his disturbingly persistent nemesis, the Japan Team functioned like a two-legged tripod. Another blow came during the 1996 tournament, in which Kyo decided to embrace his destiny and battle the Orochi, leaving his ties to the Japan Team on the back burner. The final blow to their partnership came after Kyo's battle with Orochi. Kyo was nowhere to be found and Goro decided to give up fighting for good; Benimaru was on his own. 1995 (MCMXCV) was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. ...

The NESTS conflict After a full year had passed, Benimaru set out to find Kyo. Accompanied by Kyo's student, Shingo Yabuki, he came into contact with two strange men. One was a young man with white hair and dark features named K', the other a behemoth named Maxima. K' was a dark-hearted loner who wielded powers that emulated Kyo's, while Maxima was a kind man who was enhanced with cybernetic weapons. The two men seemed entranced with fighting in the King of Fighters '99 tournament. To meet Wikipedias quality standards, this article or section may require cleanup. ...

Though Benimaru trusted neither of them, he sensed that he might find Kyo if he followed these two. He was right. As it turns out, an organization called NESTS was playing God with Human beings, and they kidnapped Kyo to toy with his powers. From this twisted deed came several bio-weapons: K', K9999, Krizalid, Kula Diamond, Maxima and Whip. Along with these creations came an influx of beings who were cloned directly from Kyo's DNA. After seeing what happened to his friend, Benimaru became enraged with all-consuming hatred; but before they could find out more, a man named Krizalid attacked them. Krizalid was a formidable foe, as he not only possessed the Kusanagi flames, but a suit that memorized the fighting styles of his defeated enemies. Before Benimaru could take a step, K' stopped him. K' hated Krizalid with every fiber of his being, and if anyone was going to kill Krizalid, it was going to be him. The two clashed heavily, with neither side backing down; and after the battle was over, another person entered the room. It was Kyo Kusanagi, and though it was unbeknownst to K’, Kyo knew full well that K’ was his clone. Much to the chagrin of Benimaru and Shingo, their reunion was cut short after a large steel door separated Kyo from the team. Suddenly, NESTS' forces began to attack them from all corners, and Benimaru and Shingo barely survived the ordeal. In 2000, Benimaru once again teamed up with Shingo, but also brought along his friend Seth and allowed a ninja named Lin to join his entourage. A man named Zero was sowing strife, and knowing that Kyo was bound to turn up, he decided to enter the fray. After a series of battles, Zero’s satellite mounted laser attacked them. After regaining consciousness, Benimaru found Lin at the mercy of a ninja named Ron. Ron was modified by NESTS and was intent on slaughtering his former clan members. Benimaru quickly attacked Ron and executed an Electrigger; and though the attack failed (Ron transformed at the last moment), it succeeded in driving off Lin’s oppressor. Though Lin hid his gratitude, Benimaru stood behind his carapace of stoic conceit and exclaimed that he was not helping him, but that he was intent on decimating the remains of NESTS. The Resurrection of Orochi With NESTS no longer posing a threat, Benimaru decided to enter the 2003 tournament with his friend Goro and, much to his chagrin, Shingo. Though everything seemed depressingly normal, there seemed to be something nefarious going on. As he would eventually find out, a shadowy group led by a mysterious man named Ash Crimson sponsored the tournament, with their ultimate goal being the resurrection of Orochi. Before they could do anything, they were transported to a remote area. Taking a moment to relax, Benimaru decided to compliment Shingo on his refined skills. Unfortunately, Shingo became arrogant and began to denounce Kyo, exclaiming that he is no longer his student, but his rival. Noticing Kyo emerging from the distance, Benimaru attempted to quell Shingo’s tirade (to no avail). Upon hearing these comments, Kyo beat Shingo senseless while Benimaru and Goro nervously looked on. 2003 (MMIII) was a common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. ...

Personality Benimaru is the epitome of narcissism; he values his life more than anything else. He is also a lover of the extreme, with his leisurely activities being sky diving and fighting. His almost psychotic obsession with his looks is further cemented when one looks at his wardrobe, which is exceedingly racy. Overall, Benimaru is a sybarite who is enthralled by the finer things in life.
Trivia - When he made his debut in King of Fighters 1994, Benimaru wears a waist-length sleeve-less top. Recently however, his top is shorter, exposing his abs. Also, before King of Fighters 2003, his top is plain black, while afterwards, it has a tiger-skin motif.
- Apparently, Benimaru has his hair up only when he is fighting or about to fight. In some pictures where he is in a break, his hair flows down. This is definitely a rather exaggerated case of electrostatics.
