Karl Benz was a German automobileengineer, born: November 23 1844, Muehlburg (now part of Karlsruhe), Baden, Germany, died: April 4 1929, Ladenburg upon Neckar, Germany.
Benzdesigned not only his engine (single-cylinder, water-cooled, 958cc, 0.75hp), but the whole three wheeled vehicle.
In 1903 Benz retired from Benz & Co., but he remained a member of the supervisory board until his death.
