History

First appearing in 1986, the Beretta 81FS Cheetah is an improved version of the original 1976 Cheetah design. The 80 series of Beretta blowback pistols are the most extensively tested pistols ever manufactured and are still considered as a top choice in blowback pistols.

Specifications

The Beretta 81FS Cheetah is a simple blowback pistol that has received many improvements, such as a decocking device, a hard chromed barrel and a reshaped trigger guard. The slide and barrel are made out of steel and the frame is made out of aluminium alloy.

Intended market

The Beretta 81FS Cheetah was designed to appeal to law enforcement as a backup pistol, to individuals needing a self defense pistol and for South American markets where owners may not puchase pistols of a more potent caliber.

Design advantages

Very reliable, compact, good safety, light, accurate and affordable.
