Berkut is also a Eurasian subspecies of Golden Eagle, Aquila chrysaetos daphanea.

Berkut (Golden Eagle) is the special-reaction team of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministerstvo Vnutrishnykh Sprav, or MVS). They are derived from the same branch of the Russian and Belarusian Spetsnaz, who in turn came from Soviet special forces.
