The tradition of the ILA dates back nearly one hundred years and reflects the development of aviation. From the outset, it was an international exhibition. The air shows were always trade fairs and at the same time a meeting place for aviation enthusiasts. The partnership with the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) also looks back on a long tradition. Aviation or Air transport refers to the activities surrounding mechanical flight and the aircraft industry. ...
ILA2000 and ILA2002 built on this success, although the exhibition in 2002 had to contend with a double crisis - the effects of September 11, 2001 on the one hand, and the sluggish world economy on the other. Yet with 340 aircraft registrations, a new record was achieved. A total of 1,067 exhibitors from 41 countries, 100,000 trade visitors from Germany and abroad, and a total of 215,150 visitors attended ILA 2002 - figures that once again confirm the importance of the Berlin Air Show as one of the leading events in Europe for the entire aerospace industry. About 60 accompanying conferences - including such leading events as the XIXth International Workshop on Global Security and the War on Terrorism, the Airbus Ministers' Conference and the 1st International Parliamentarians' Meeting underscored the growth in competence and quality of the ILA. Some 3,4000 journalists from 70 countries sent their reports on the ILA to all corners of the world.
