Bernie Krause is an American musician, was a member of The Weavers, and was one of the first players of the Moog Synthesizer in the 1960s. He formed Beaver & Krause with fellow synthesist Paul Beaver (who had played the instrument on a Monkees recording, "Star Collector"), to make electronic music featuring the Moog and other instruments. Krause's 1970 album In a Wild Sanctuary was the first to employ the sounds of nature on a large scale, as a source of musical tones and rhythms, and to make a statement about the environment. Krause is still as he listens to the recordings he made some years ago, sitting in the "sweet spot" of the speakers in his cozy Glen Ellen office just steps from his salmon-colored house.
