Bessera elegans (534 words)
Bessera, from the Amaryllidaceae family was named in honor of Wilbald von Besser (1784-1842), an Austrian botanist.
When I first discovered Bessera elegans, it was listed in a seed and bulb catelogue of a grower in New South Wales.
Since I had discovered a new world of bulbs (to me,that is), I had the urge to grow the beautiful species that I had read about; my frustration lay in the truth that most of them were not available except through specialist growers who listed them in their catelogues.
