"Better Man" (sometimes written as "Betterman") is a song that was written by Eddie Vedder when he was in high school, which he first performed with a San Diego based group called Bad Radio and later recorded with Pearl Jam. Considered a "blatantly great pop song" by producer Brendan O'Brien, Pearl Jam was reluctant to record it and had initially rejected it from Vs. due to its accessibility.[1] "Better Man" appeared on the 1994 Pearl Jam album Vitalogy. When the song was performed on VH1 Storytellers Eddie Vedder introduced it as a song about "abusive relationships."
