Bettona (Latin: Vettona) is an ancient town and comune of Italy, in the province of Perugia in central Umbria, 42°49.5′ N 12°46′ E, at 353 meters (1158 ft) above sea-level at the northern edge of the Colli Martani range. It is 5 km (3 mi) E of Torgiano and 12 km (7 mi) SW of Assisi, and the 2003 census figures give it 3855 inhabitants. The town is of Etruscan origin; its people are first referred to in Pliny, NH III.114 (Vettonenses), then in other ancient authors and inscriptions. Bettona still retains a complete circuit of medieval walls incorporating substantial portions of the original Etruscan walls. Exceptionally for so small a town in the region, it has an excellent museum, of mostly medieval and Renaissance painting. The town is also locally noted for its walled gardens.

Bettona is one of the most historical, artistic and interesting localities in Umbria.
Bettona stands on a hill dominating the fertile plain below, from which you can completely see the green valleys where the Tiber and its main tributaries flow.
With regard to the craftsmanship, Bettona is remarkable for its excellent working of iron and marbles.
Bettona, authentic "Etruscan Balcony", located to the left of the Tiber River is easily accessible from Perugia (20 km), Assisi, Todi and Orvieto.
Bettona is a natural overlook onta one of the most characteristic Umbrian views created by the sernicircular chain of the centrai Apennines that extends from Lake Trasimeno to Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Foligno and Montefalco.
At a glance, one takes in the dark, soft lines of the hills with the continuity of colors of the soil and plants, which are sometimes contrasting, sometimes blending, depending upon the season.
