1. In Greek mythology, Bianor was a son of Heracles. He founded Mantua.


2. Bianor of Bithynia is the author of twenty-two epigrams in the Greek Anthology [1] (http://ancienthistory.about.com/library/bl/bl_text_gkanth.htm). One of them is on the destruction of Sardis by an earthquake in A.D. 17. Bianor lived during the period when Greece was under Rome, from the establishment of the Empire to the decay of art and letters after the death of Marcus Aurelius, B.C. 30-A.D. 180.


3. In 4th century the martyrdom of Saints Bianor and Sylvanus inspired a Greek legend, but their extant acta are uncertain. They were beheaded in Pisidia, Asia Minor (Benedictines).


4. A spider: Bianor aurocinctus, albobimaculatus, pullus, japonicus. Found in Europe, North of Mexico, and Japan. It is a small jumping spider, with a size between 3 and 4 mm. A boreal species, dark and shiny and robust. The robust shiny body and northerly distribution are distinctive.The male spider can be easily recognized by his swollen fore legs; females have orange legs.


5. A butterfly: Papilio bianor, by Cramer in 1777. Found in S.China, NE.Burma, Shan States, N.Laos, N.Vietnam; Sakhalin; Kurile Islands; S.Ussuri; Taiwan.
